The Start Bay D-Day Six K swim 2021 is on Sunday June 6th.
The 6km swim starts at Blackpool Sands and exits opposite Torcross Tank memorial.
The inaugural swim in 2021 is a celebration of the Royal Marines Iron Challenge and is geared to raising further sponsorship for the RMA.
To enter the swim you donate between the minimum amount of £16.64 up to but not limited to £75 to the RMA via the Justgiving link below, in lieu of any swim entry fee.
Entering your details including your email address and mobile number represents your full acceptance of our Terms and Conditions below for swim entry, which we encourage you to read.
Every participant will be accompanied by their own kayak or SUP support buddy.
Swimmers without kayak or SUP support will be assigned a volunteer paddler and agree to pay £30 directly to them to cover parking and fuel expenses.
Meet at Blackpool Sands car park at 7:00 am for registration and issuing of the GPS trackers in their mandatory tow buoys which we supply on loan.
The 6km sea swim starts at 8:30am and is tide assisted.
Expect swim times varying from sub 2-hours to 3 hours plus depending on experience and fitness.
Swimmers not acclimatised to cold water or not capable of swimming faster than 3min/100m should not enter this year.
Each swimmer will have their own kayak or SUP paddler support, or maximum two matching swimmers per support craft.
The Votwo Events RIB will be in the water from 7am and throughout the swim, marshalling the line of swimmers and support boats, and connecting volunteers via 10 VHF marine 2-way radios.
Each swimmer (unless thoroughly acclimatised to cold swimming) must wear a neoprene swimming wetsuit including optional gloves, swim cap and boots if needed.
Bright high-quality silicone commemorative event swim caps will be provided by SeaLion Triathlons and are mandatory to be worn in the swim over any other headwear.
Volunteer car shuttles will assist swimmers finishing at Torcross to be driven swiftly back to Blackpool Sands swim HQ.
When you exit make your way to the tank memorial and a car will pick you up in minutes.
